VVA Code of Conduct

AAU Volleyball Parent/Player Code of Conduct

As a member of the AAU Volleyball community, both parents and players are expected to uphold a standard of conduct that promotes respect, sportsmanship, and a positive environment for everyone involved. By participating in AAU Volleyball, all members agree to abide by the following expectations:

For Players:

  1. Respect Your Coaches: Coaches are here to help you develop as an athlete and a person. Listen to their guidance and show appreciation for their time and effort.

  2. Sportsmanship: Treat your teammates, opponents, referees, and all other staff with respect. Win with grace and lose with dignity.

  3. Effort and Attitude: Always give your best effort, show up on time, and maintain a positive attitude both on and off the court.

  4. Teamwork: Support your teammates in their successes and encourage them in their challenges. Remember, the success of the team is more important than individual achievements.

  5. Responsibility: Be accountable for your actions both on and off the court. Make responsible decisions that reflect positively on yourself, your team, and your family.

For Parents:

  1. Supportive Behavior: Encourage and cheer for all players, not just your child. Create a positive environment that focuses on teamwork and personal growth.

  2. Respect for Coaches and Officials: Coaches are responsible for training and leading the team, while officials are there to ensure fair play. Disrespectful behavior towards either will not be tolerated.

  3. Communication: Address concerns directly and respectfully with the coach or team manager, not during practices or games. If needed, schedule a private meeting to discuss any issues.

  4. Promote Sportsmanship: Your behavior sets an example for your child. Be mindful of how you handle wins, losses, and any challenges during the season. Lead with positivity and respect.

  5. Encourage Development Over Winning: Focus on your child’s growth as an athlete rather than on immediate results. Understand that volleyball is a journey of skill-building and learning.

General Expectations:

  • Zero Tolerance for Bullying or Disrespect: Any form of verbal, emotional, or physical abuse towards teammates, coaches, or opponents will result in immediate disciplinary action.

  • Commitment to the Team: Attendance at practices, games, and team events is crucial for the success of the team. If you are unable to attend, please communicate with your coach in advance.

  • Compliance with AAU Policies: All players and parents must comply with AAU Volleyball rules and regulations.
