VVA Code of Conduct
AAU Volleyball Parent/Player Code of Conduct
As a member of the AAU Volleyball community, both parents and players are expected to uphold a standard of conduct that promotes respect, sportsmanship, and a positive environment for everyone involved. By participating in AAU Volleyball, all members agree to abide by the following expectations:
For Players:
-
Respect Your Coaches: Coaches are here to help you develop as an athlete and a person. Listen to their guidance and show appreciation for their time and effort.
-
Sportsmanship: Treat your teammates, opponents, referees, and all other staff with respect. Win with grace and lose with dignity.
-
Effort and Attitude: Always give your best effort, show up on time, and maintain a positive attitude both on and off the court.
-
Teamwork: Support your teammates in their successes and encourage them in their challenges. Remember, the success of the team is more important than individual achievements.
-
Responsibility: Be accountable for your actions both on and off the court. Make responsible decisions that reflect positively on yourself, your team, and your family.
For Parents:
-
Supportive Behavior: Encourage and cheer for all players, not just your child. Create a positive environment that focuses on teamwork and personal growth.
-
Respect for Coaches and Officials: Coaches are responsible for training and leading the team, while officials are there to ensure fair play. Disrespectful behavior towards either will not be tolerated.
-
Communication: Address concerns directly and respectfully with the coach or team manager, not during practices or games. If needed, schedule a private meeting to discuss any issues.
-
Promote Sportsmanship: Your behavior sets an example for your child. Be mindful of how you handle wins, losses, and any challenges during the season. Lead with positivity and respect.
-
Encourage Development Over Winning: Focus on your child’s growth as an athlete rather than on immediate results. Understand that volleyball is a journey of skill-building and learning.
General Expectations:
-
Zero Tolerance for Bullying or Disrespect: Any form of verbal, emotional, or physical abuse towards teammates, coaches, or opponents will result in immediate disciplinary action.
-
Commitment to the Team: Attendance at practices, games, and team events is crucial for the success of the team. If you are unable to attend, please communicate with your coach in advance.
-
Compliance with AAU Policies: All players and parents must comply with AAU Volleyball rules and regulations.
